Upcoming Workshop

In this two-day workshop, students will create a larger-than-life head of a person of their choice. Using reference images of the front, sides, and back of the head, students will construct a hollow form with slab-building techniques.

The workshop will focus on facial proportions, basic anatomy, and methods for sculpting large hollow forms with internal supports. Students will sculpt facial features by pushing out clay from the interior and refining details through additive modeling, then complete the sculpture by closing the back of the head using the spiral flat-coil technique.

Level: All Levels Welcome
Scale: Larger than life (approximately 18–24 inches tall)
Location: Juniper Clay Shop, Joshua Tree, CA.
Dates: Saturday & Sunday, August 1–2.
